WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States government is actively providing US citizens that are stuck in Yemen with opportunities to travel to other embassies in the region, US State Department acting spokesperson Marie Harf stated in a press briefing on Wednesday.
“Americans in Yemen can go to other embassies in the region,” Harf said. “We have been actively providing them with opportunities to get to other embassies.”
Harf noted that the US State Department expects former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi to return to office soon, and the only path forward for Yemen is for all parties to the conflict to come to the negotiating table and work out a cease fire as well as a path forward for the country.
More than 300 Americans and their family members were evacuated from Yemen to Djibouti on April 14, 2014, according to the US Embassy in Djibouti.
