According to a police source, at least 35 medical students, including eight foreigners, have been confirmed injured in a dormitory fire in southwestern Moscow.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) At least 35 medical students, including eight foreigners, have been confirmed injured in a dormitory fire in southwestern Moscow, according to a police source.

“According to preliminary information, there are eight foreign citizens among the injured. Their citizenship is being established,” the police source said.

Police believe the fire could have started from an electrical short. The fire started in one of the dormitory rooms on the seventh floor of the 16-storey building and was extinguished at 11:33 p.m. local time (20:33 GMT) Wednesday night.

According to the press service spokesperson, a total of 43 people were injured in the fire but not all of them required hospitalization.

According to an emergencies services source, the foreign students are from Ghana, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Malaysia, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan.
