MANAMA (Sputnik) – There is still danger from Houthi rebels in Yemen despite new "Restoring Hope" campaign launched by the international coalition, Bahraini Foreign Minister Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said Thursday.
On Tuesday, the Saudi-led coalition announced the completion of the Decisive Storm military operation in Yemen and launch of Restoring Hope campaign. The new military operation will focus on counter-terrorism efforts, humanitarian missions, and the revival of political dialogue in the crisis-hit country.
"The beginning of a new operation does not imply [the establishment of] a ceasefire and suspension of hostilities, because Houthis still pose danger," Al Khalifa said during a joint press conference with his Yemeni counterpart Riad Yassin.
Yemeni Foreign Minister Riad Yassin, having paid a visit to Bahrain together with Vice President of the country Khaled Bahah, in his turn, stressed that possible military activity by Houthis will meet with retaliatory measures.
In late March, Saudi Arabia and its allies started airstrikes against Houthis, the main opposition force in Yemen, following a request for military support from President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi. Houthi rebels had taken control of large territories in Yemen, including capital Sanaa.
