NEW DELHI, April 24 (Sputnik) — Earlier in the week, Rosselkhoznadzor checked six Indian buffalo meat producers, in addition to four that were certified and started meat supplies to Russia in March, according to Alexei Alekseyenko. The agriculture watchdog is also ready to check Indian milk producers.
“We received an application from enterprises of fish, marine sectors,” he said, adding that India suggested a wide range of fruits and vegetables as well.
Alekseyenko noted that the watchdog has checked several Iranian producers ready to supply milk, meat and fish to Russia as well.
In August 2014, Moscow imposed a one-year ban on the import of certain food products from the United States, the European Union and their allies in retaliation to anti-Russia sanctions introduced earlier over Moscow's alleged involvement in the Ukrainian conflict.
The import ban includes meat, poultry, fish, seafood, dairy, fruit and vegetables.
