MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Savchenko has been in pre-trial detention in Russia since last summer, as a suspected accomplice in the killing of two Russian journalists during the early stages of the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
"The investigation has irrefutable evidence including Savchenko's handwritten notes, proving her involvement in the adjustment of fire, data from ballistic expertise of shards from the bodies of the deceased, and photo and video materials of the location of the journalists' deaths… as well as data received from satellites."
Savchenko is currently in custody in Voronezh, a Russian city situated some 190 miles away from the border with Ukraine.
While already held in detention in Russia, Savchenko resigned from the Ukrainian Armed Forces in November 2014 after being elected a member of the Ukrainian parliament a month earlier.
