Heavy overnight rains and strong winds killed 44 people in north-western Pakistan, officials said.
Troops and rescuers were using cranes to dig through the rubble and rescue survivors after a thunderstorm destroyed buildings in three districts in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. Fallen trees and electricity polls disrupted traffic and left large parts of the area without power.
The provincial capital Peshawar recorded 32 confirmed deaths by Monday morning with more than 150 people injured.
