MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the spokesperson, Fico will lay flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier together with Czech President Milos Zeman during his stay in Moscow. The two are also expected to hold bilateral talks.
Moscow had invited a number of world leaders to visit the parade on Red Square in honor of the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII in Europe. Several European leaders, as well as US President Barack Obama declined the invitation. However, some 26 state leaders have confirmed their intention to visit Moscow and join the celebrations.
"Prime Minister Robert Fico will take part in May 9 celebrations in Moscow to commemorate the 70th anniversary of World War II ending," Beatrice Szaboova told RIA Novosti.
Fico also plans to take part in the events honoring the soldiers who died in the struggle against Nazism in Poland and Ukraine on May 7 and 8, Szaboova added.
