MOSCOW, April 28 (Sputnik) — The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is an economic bloc comprising Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. Kyrgyzstan is set to be formally accepted as a member next month.
“Our country has repeatedly talked about the possibility of future integration of two regional associations — the EEU and the European Union. Has the time come for such plans and forecasts? Is it too early? No, now is the time to not only dream, but to speak. The time has come to start consultations,” Sergey Naryshkin wrote in an op-ed published Tuesday in the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper.
The union aims to boost economic integration between the member states and envisions the establishment of a single economic market.
