"This is the second trial launch of the cargo vessel on the Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket. The launch occurred at 10:10 a.m. Moscow time [07:10 GMT] and the Progress M-27M will separate from the third stage carrier rocket at 10:19 a.m. Moscow time. The cargo vessel is scheduled to dock with the ISS at 4:07 p.m. [13:07 GMT] in its automatic mode," the source said.
The Progress vessel will deliver more than 2.5 tons of cargo to the ISS, including fuel, oxygen, food, equipment for scientific experiments, and packages for the cosmonauts and astronauts on board.
There is a crew of six on board the ISS, and the current Expedition 43 is set to return to Earth next month.
Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko and American astronaut Scott Kelly will stay in orbit until March 2016 and undergo medical and psychological studies as part of the Year in Space mission.
The expedition is also conducting astrophysical research, physical science investigations and technology demonstrations.
