American teenager Collin Burns has set a new world record by completing the standard 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube puzzle in 5.253 seconds at a competition in Pennsylvania.

The previous world record, which was set in 2013 by Mats Valik of the Netherlands, stood at 5.55 seconds. In 1982, when Ernő Rubik's 3D cube puzzle became a hit, the world record for solving it was 22.95 seconds.
