MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) — The new addition has brought the number of Interjet airliners up to 53 aircraft. Its air fleet now comprises 39 Airbus A320 passenger planes and 14 Sukhoi Superjet 100s.
Interjet CEO Jose Luis Garza said this will help his company expand its route network, which currently covers 47 destinations around the globe and locally. In 2014, the company served over 7.8 million passengers.
Interjet ordered SSJ-100s in the 93-seat twin-engine configuration. The Mexican company was initially going to procure a total of 20 Superjets. In March, it placed an order for additional ten aircraft, bringing their number up to 30.
