Markets in Africa and the Middle Eastern should become the most promising venues for Ukrainian manufacturers, according to Alexander Danileiko, head of the Economic Cooperation Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, the news network RBK Ukraine reported.

Danileiko made the statement during an international conference named "Prospective markets of economic cooperation for the development of Ukraine's national economy."  The conference opened in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, earlier on Wednesday.

"We need to help our entrepreneurs and our manufacturers find global markets. And it is markets in Southeast Africa and the Middle East that can become the venues where our products can be competitive and conquer new markets for export diversification ", Danileiko said.

He also mentioned the ever-increasing number of Ukrainian entrepreneurs, who he said had previously conducted business in Russia, but are now seeking to make it to other markets.

"Many enterprises, which earlier operated on the Russian market, currently ask us to support them because the situation on  these markets has changed dramatically. So [the Ukrainian] Foreign Ministry are now tasked with helping our enterprises entering foreign markets," Danileiko added.

He described the current Ukrainian export situation as "very critical." According to him, last year saw exports fall by about 15 percent, while during the first two months of this year, exports declined by more than 33 percent.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has already received about 2,500 requests related to helping businessmen make it to foreign markets.
