MOSCOW (Sputnik) — An anti-terrorism Pakistani court has indicted ten persons involved in the 2012 gun attack on then-15-year-old education activist Malala Yousafzai, sentencing them to life imprisonment, local media reported Thursday.
The militants attacked Yousafzai and two other girls on a school bus. They were identified and arrested last year. According to The Express Tribune newspaper, the shooters admitted that Pakistani Taliban head Mullah Fazlullah had masterminded the assault on the girls.
In 2014, Yousafzai received the Nobel Peace Prize, becoming its youngest laureate at the age of 17.
The Taliban group, formed in the 1990s, seeks sharia law in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The group is known for terrorist attacks and multiple human rights atrocities against authorities and civilians in both countries.
