PARIS (Sputnik) – Paris and Doha will sign a deal for the sale of 24 French Rafale multirole fighter aircraft to Qatar on Monday, May 4, the French presidency said in a statement on Thursday.
According to the statement, French President Francois Hollande met Qatari Emir Hamad bin Tamim Al Thani Wednesday, with the latter confirming his desire to purchase 24 Rafale aircraft.
On Monday, Hollande will travel to Doha to attend the signing of the contract by the State of Qatar and Rafale manufacturer Dassault Aviation Company, as well as the MBDA company, manufacturer of the missiles included in the deal.
Earlier this month, France and India agreed on the sale of 36 Rafale jets to New Delhi.
Paris sold 24 Rafale jets to Cairo in February.
