WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The new destroyer is named after Lt. John Finn, who exhibited heroism and received the Medal of Honor during Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941.
“Designated DDG 113, John Finn is the 63rd Arleigh Burke class destroyer, and will be able to conduct a variety of operations, from peacetime presence and crisis management to sea control and power projection,” the US Navy said on Thursday.
