MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Conservative Party leader said that he would implement four key immigration-limiting measures inside the European Union. These are denying EU migrants unemployment benefits, turning them back six months after failing to find employment, making them eligible for tax benefits four years after working and "paying into the system," as well as prohibiting them from sending child benefits back to their home country.
Late last month, Cameron reiterated his 2011 promise to cut net migration to "tens of thousands." An Office for National Statistics report published in February uncovered a 50,000 annual rise in migration since 2010 to 298,000.
An Ipsos poll conducted in March has shown immigration to top the British public's concerns.
The latest poll tracking projections forecast another hung parliament due to each of the running parties' inability to seek out a majority on May 7.
