Labour’s Miliband Urges to Downplay Proposed Vote on UK Exit From EU
02:31 GMT 01.05.2015 (Updated: 15:01 GMT 28.05.2023) The UK Labour's leader Ed Miliband urged not to center on the so-called Brexit, a proposed 2017 referendum on Britain's exit from the European Union, saying it was not a priority for his party.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — During his face-to-face moment with BBC One audience, Miliband said he did not believe it was "the right thing" to spend the next two years speculating on the future of UK's membership in the 28-nation bloc.
He also said his Tory opponent, Prime Minister David Cameron, was not as keep on Brexit as he appeared to be, and was only "being dragged out" of the European Union by his Conservative party.
Miliband added he was sure that UK business needed the EU.
The opposition leader was speaking during BBC One's Question Time Special, a fourth episode in a series of debates with party leaders ahead of the May 7 general election.
