WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US decision comes as a result of Iran seizing the US-flagged vessel, Maersk Kensington, on Friday, and another cargo ship flagged in the Marshall Islands, Maersk Tigris, on Tuesday, according to media reports.

“US Navy warships will now accompany every US-flagged commercial vessel that passes through the Strait of Hormuz due to concerns that ships from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps navy could try to seize a US cargo ship,” CNN said.
