TOKYO (Sputnik) — Waves up to 1.5 feet were recorded in the area of the Izu and the Ogasawara Islands after the earthquake with the epicenter at an approximate depth of 20 miles beneath the sea level, about 283 miles south of Tokyo, according to the agency.

The naximum seismic intensity in the cities did not exceed 3 points, the meteorological agency said.
No victims, injuries or damage has been reported.
