MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The social network user named “Sharia is Light” posted a message some twenty minutes prior to the attack, in which two suspects were killed and one police officer injured.
"The bro with me and myself have given bay-ah to Amirul Mu'mineen. May Allah accept us as mujahideen. Make dua," the Tweet said as quoted by USA Today. The account is now suspended.
On Sunday evening, two men opened fire on a security guard at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, which was hosting the "First Annual Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest." Local police returned fire, killing both suspects. The security guard, Bruce Joiner, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Muhammad Art Contest, held in the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, a city to the northeast of Dallas, was organized by the American Freedom Defense Initiative. The contest in support of free speech, offered a $10,000 prize for the best cartoon depicting the Prophet Muhammad.
