MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The HMS Bulmark ship has been awaiting deployment for 10 days, after UK Prime Minister David Cameron offered to make it available for search and rescue operations, the Guardian newspaper reported.
However, the United Kingdom wants the migrants collected by the ships to be taken to Italian ports, so that their asylum applications can be processed there, giving rise to disagreements between the British and Italian foreign ministries.
A Royal Navy source told the newspaper that the ship will start participating in the search and rescue operations once consensus with Italy has been reached.
