WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US Department of State is offering multi-million rewards for information on four key leaders of the Islamic State (ISIL) terrorist group, according to its statement released on Tuesday.
“The [US] Secretary of State [John Kerry] has authorized rewards of up to $7 million for information on Abd al-Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli; up to $5 million each for information on Abu Mohammed al-Adnani and Tarkhan Tayumurazovich Batirashvili; and up to $3 million for information on Tariq Bin-al-Tahar Bin al Falih al-Awni al-Harzi,” the release specified.
Al-Qaduli is a senior ISIL official who originally served as al-Qaida in Iraq (AQI) leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi’s deputy and as AQI emir of Mosul, according to the statement. After his release from prison in early 2012, al-Qaduli joined the ISIL.
Meanwhile, Al-Harzi was one of the first terrorists to join the ISIL. He has helped to raise funds from Gulf-based donors and has recruited and facilitated the travel of ISIL fighters, according to the release.
The United States listed the fours individuals as specially designated global terrorists in 2014.
The State Department urged anyone with information on the ISIL leaders to contact the Rewards for Justice office.
“All information will be kept strictly confidential,” the release stressed.
The ISIL militant group controls large parts of Iraq and Syria, and is notorious for publishing numerous videos of ISIL committed atrocities, including beheadings of foreign hostages. The group's positions have been targeted by US-led coalition airstrikes since August 2014.
