Russia Observes Expanded Military Exports to Indonesia
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian military exports proceed according to schedule despite Western sanctions, a deputy head of Russia’s state-run arms exporter Rosoboronexport said Wednesday.

“We can say for sure that there have been no delays in arms exports, the sanctions failed to attain their goal,” Sergei Goreslavsky said.

On April 21, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the country continues to hold a leading position among world exporters of weapons with approximately $49 billion in arms deals sealed.

Russia was the world's second arms exporters in 2014 behind the United States, according to IHS, a US-based consultancy. China, India, Venezuela and Vietnam import most of the Russian weapons and equipment.

The United States and their allies imposed sanctions against the Russian defense industry among other sectors of the economy in 2014 over Moscow's alleged interference in Ukraine's internal armed conflict. Russia has repeatedly denied the accusations.
