"On the day of the election we will be working closely with the electoral commission and local authorities across the capital. And we will be putting together police operation on the day and throughout the counting process. Appropriate policing plan will be in place," the spokesman said.
He added that the police would assess the risks accordingly, but refused to discuss the information about where police saw troubles were most likely to arise.
"When officers are required in a particular place, they will be situated," the spokesman said.
On May 7, citizens across the United Kingdom will take to voting stations to participate in the general election.
According to the BBC poll tracker, the Conservative Party is leading with 34 percent, followed closely by the Labour Party with 33 percent of the vote. UKIP lands in the third place with 14 percent, while Liberal Democrats, Greens and other parties are at the bottom of the chart.
YouGov data shows that the Conservatives and the Labourists are tied with 34 percent of the vote each. They are followed by UKIP, Liberal Democrats and the Green Party.
