WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Former Senator Rick Santorum of the US state of Pennsylvania will join the 2016 US Presidential race, according to a message on Santorum's Twitter account.

Santorum has been meeting with activists and party leaders in early-voting US states to gain support ahead of his run, according to local media.
Santorum is the seventh candidate to join the Republican race. He was US Representative from Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district from 1990 until 1994, and US Senator from 1995 until 2007.
