MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The exploits of the Soviet people at the World War II deserve remembrance and gratitude from all the world, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said in an address to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.
“Accept sincere and brotherly congratulations from me personally and all the Venezuelan people with the 70th anniversary of Victory Day when Soviet forces destroyed fascism that threatened the entire world,” the address published on the Venezuela’s government website read.
Maduro arrived in Moscow early on Friday to take part in the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in WWII. The president’s wife and government delegation travelled with him.
The heads of 27 states and governments are expected to be present at the large-scale Victory Day in Moscow.
