WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Saudi Arabian King Salman is set to visit the White House next Wednesday to conduct a bilateral discussion with US President Barack Obama, White House spokesperson Eric Schultz told reporters.
“On Wednesday [May 13, 2015], the President will meet at the White House with King Salman of Saudi Arabia to build on their close consultations on a wide range of regional and bilateral issues,” Schultz said on Friday.
Later on Wednesday, Obama is scheduled to meet with delegations from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries about deepening security cooperation, Schultz added.
On Thursday, US Secretary of State John Kerry met with Salman in Saudi Arabia to discuss a proposed five-day humanitarian ceasefire that is supposed to take effect on Tuesday night in Yemen between the Houthi rebels and forces loyal to displaced Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.
