The Saudi-led coalition aviation conducted five new airstrikes on the residence of former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh in the capital of Sanaa after he visited the site following the morning air attacks, a source in law enforcement agencies told Sputnik.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to earlier reports, the coalition aircraft conducted three airstrikes on Saleh's house in Sanaa. Several people reportedly died and others sustained injuries, while Saleh and members of his family were not injured.

"Coalition's aviation conducted five new airstrikes on the house of former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh after he visited the place," the source said.

The Yemeni ex-president later posted a picture on Facebook showing him standing near the destroyed house with an appeal to the Saudi-led coalition to solve the crisis through a dialogue.

The Saudi-led air operation began on March 26 at the request of ousted Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who fled the country amid hostilities, after the Houthis took control of large areas of the country, including Sanaa.

The coalition announced the end to its airstrikes in late April, yet the attacks continued into May.
