On Sunday, Hersh reported that Obama and the US government had been lying to Americans and to the world about the details surrounding the raid on bin Laden’s Pakistani compound and his subsequent death in 2011.

Obama’s Account of Bin Laden’s Death is One Fabricated Lie - Seymour Hersh
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The story by renowned US reporter Seymour Hersh in which he alleged President Barack Obama lied about the details of the raid that killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Pakistan is riddled with false claims, White House National Security spokesperson Ned Price told Sputnik on Monday.

“There are too many inaccuracies and baseless assertions in this piece to fact check each one,” Price said.

Price argued that Hersh’s assertion the Obama administration worked with Pakistani intelligence officials is completely false and the operation was fully a US mission.

“As we said at the time, knowledge of this operation was confined to a very small circle of senior US officials,” Price said. “The President decided early on not to inform any other government, including the Pakistani government, which was not notified until after the raid had occurred.”

Price concluded that the United States and Pakistan continue to be allies in the global War on Terror that seeks to destroy terrorist groups like al-Qaeda, but this particular assault that killed bin Laden was a completely American mission.
