Duda Wins First Round of Poland’s President Election – Electoral Commission

Andrzej Duda won the first round of Poland’s president election, overcoming acting President Bronislaw Komorowski, the country’s electoral commission said Tuesday.

WARSAW (Sputnik) — Duda, a candidate from the biggest opposition party in Poland, Law and Justice, won 34.76 percent of the votes in all constituencies, the commission said. The acting president obtained 33.77 percent of votes, taking the second place in the first round of the election.

Eleven candidates took part in the presidential race in Poland after collecting the required 100,000 signatures of voters each in the run-up to the elections.
