MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The investigative committee on difficult economic situation in Greece will present the preliminary findings on the Greek national debt by June, speaker of the parliament Zoi Konstantopoulou said.
“The Committee began its work a few days ago. We expect that the preliminary findings will be ready approximately by June,” Konstantopoulou told Russia's Kommersant newspaper in an interview.
The preparation of the full report will require at least a year, she added.
Greek parliament has evidence that a significant part of the Greek debt is illegal and should be annulled, the speaker stressed.
“It is mostly linked to corruption deals. As well as with procedures and agreements that have been made in violation of the Greek Constitution and Greece’s international obligations in the area of human rights,” Konstantopoulou said.
On Tuesday, Greece is expected to transfer a 750-million-euros ($844-million) payment to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The upcoming repayment is another portion of the $270-billion Greek debt to the troika of international creditors, comprising the IMF, the European Commission and the European Central Bank.
