On May 11, the ongoing Mistral saga took a new turn. Several media outlets reported that France may sell two helicopter carriers to China instead of delivering the ships to Russia.
However, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said last week that France could not sell the Mistral helicopter carriers without Moscow's permission, as Russia had the end-user certificate for the stern parts of the ships which were built in St. Petersburg before being transported to France for further assembly.
In its turn, France has declined to comment on Dmitry Rogozin’s statement.
