The Krasnodar potato, Kerry received as a gift on Tuesday, is said to be a distant relative of the Idaho potato the US state secretary handed Lavrov ahead of a major conference on Syria in January 2014, Russian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Maria Zakharova wrote on Facebook.

Kerry is on a visit to Sochi to hold talks with Lavrov and Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss a wide range of topics, including Syria, Iran, Yemen and Ukraine.
