MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia and Nicaragua are working on bilateral deals in the fields of pharmaceuticals, fisheries, and aerotechnics, Russia's trade representative in Nicaragua Pyotr Pankratov said.
"Projects in the pharmaceutical, fishery, aerotechnics industries, possibly in the energy field, are currently at the stage of developing specific contracts," Pankratov told RIA Novosti.
Russia has been actively expanding its ties with Nicaragua. In late April, the Central American country's parliament ratified a cooperation agreement with Russia on the peaceful exploration of outer space. Moscow is also supplying Nicaragua's army with modern weaponry and military equipment.
During the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his counterpart Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua in July 2014, both leaders praised the potential for developing bilateral cooperation.
