WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Perry has been elected governor of Texas three times and served in the post for 14 years, longer than anyone in the state’s history.
.@GovernorPerry & I have been discussing the future of this great country and how our family can play a role. https://t.co/S2EOc5sliC

The Twitter message was an invitation to an event in the city of Dallas, hosted by Perry's Political Action Committee RickPAC.
The former governor has praised his record of job creation, but has been criticized for allowing the Texas’ health care and welfare system to become among the worst in the United States during his term in office.
Regarding foreign policy, Perry has described himself as a traditional Republican that subscribes to the philosophy of Ronald Reagan and Winston Churchill, and has supported the US war in Iraq.
The former governor has not attracted significant financial support thus far, in contrast to another presidential hopeful from Texas, US Senator Ted Cruz.
Perry made a bid for the US Presidency in 2011, but lost popularity and dropped out of the race.
In recent months, Perry has consulted economic, security and foreign affairs experts on current issues.
