MOSCOW (Sputnik) — At least 42 civilians were killed in Syrian government airstrikes in Idlib governorate, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported Saturday.
According to the monitor, 11 children were among the victims of the air raids. The number of casualties is likely to rise as a number of civilians have sustained serious injuries.
Syria is in the state of civil war that broke out in 2011 after a series of anti-government protests, which turned into an armed conflict, with government forces fighting a number of rebel groups, including Islamic State and The Nusra Front.
The Syrian government has been carrying out airstrikes in the country against militants' positions.
