Six convicted Islamists militants, who were members of the Sinai-based Ansar Beit al-Maqdis group, have been executed in Egypt; the sentence was carried out by hanging in a Cairo jail, sources said.
The six were sentenced to death by a military tribunal last year, after a trial to convict them of staging attacks following the army's ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
The executions came a day after Morsi and top Brotherhood leaders received the death penalty over a mass prison break in 2011.
