There are no Russian troops in Donbass, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday after Ukrainian media outlets had published a video interrogation of a captured soldier who introduced himself as a Russian soldier serving in the Special Forces.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Peskov said that questions on the alleged detention of Russian soldiers in Ukraine should be addressed to the Russian Defense Ministry, not the Kremlin.

"Of course I cannot confirm this because I’m not the one who should be asked this question. We along with the Defense Ministry have repeatedly said that there are no Russian soldiers in Donbass."

According to Peskov, questions on this matter should be directed to the Defense Ministry or military experts rather than the Kremlin.

"I cannot comment on these reports, but I think that specialists or our Defense Ministry in this case would do it better in order to establish how reliable this information is," the Kremlin spokesman told journalists.

Russian authorities have repeatedly rejected Kiev’s claims that Russian troops are allegedly fighting alongside pro-independence forces in Ukraine’s eastern Donbass region.
