MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The meeting by the working group on humanitarian issues within the Minsk agreements on the Ukrainian reconciliation slated for May 19 will focus on the exchange of prisoners, the negotiator from the eastern Ukrainian self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic said Monday.
“The working group that handles the return of temporarily displaced individuals will meet tomorrow in Minsk,” Vladislav Deinego was cited as saying by the Russian News Service.
Earlier this month, ombudsman of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Daria Morozova said that up to 400 militia members and some 2,500 civilians were held captive by Kiev's security forces. According to the ombudsman, the DPR released all prisoners in early April.
Ukraine's Security Service, however, insists that up to 300 people are still being held by the militia.
An all-for-all prisoner exchange is part of the 13-point ceasefire agreement signed by Kiev and the self-proclaimed republics of Lugansk and Donetsk in mid-February.
