Swinger clubs are meant to be a place for consenting adults to get together, have a few drinks, meet fun couples, and then, you know, see where the night leads.
Sex is involved, to be sure, though not of the hired variety. The only commercial transactions meant to take place are for entrance fees. Maybe a daiquiri and a basket of deep fried pickles.
But suspicions about prostitution and pimping inside the clubs led Turkish police to raid a number of apartments. But not just one or two. Police coordinated raids on 25 separate apartments spread throughout five provinces in the country’s south and southeast.
The raids occurred after police received reports that the patrons were bringing prostitutes into the clubs.
One of the suspects taken into custody was a married woman who admitted to taking money for sex. This was done with her husband’s blessing to earn money for her ill father.
In total, 53 people were taken into custody for questioning. Twenty-three have been before the court to face charges.
The raids will likely not affect the clubs’ business. Swingers, after all, gotta swing.
