VLADIVOSTOK (Sputnik) – Russia's southeastern Primorye region now has runways able to accommodate the Airbus A380 aircraft – the largest passenger plane in the world, Primorsky Territory Governor Vladimir Miklushevsky has announced.
"We have different airliners flying to our region. In the summer, the largest passenger plane in the world – Airbus A380 will fly to us, our runway allows it. The [Russian] Transaero [Airlines] company is buying two such aircraft, they will carry out flights to Primorye and New York," Miklushevsky said.
A380 has 40 percent more usable floor space than the world's second largest airliner, the Boeing 747-8.
There are currently over 150 Airbus A380 aircraft in service with the plane being used by 13 operators, including Air France, Lufthansa, and British Airways.
