During an interview with the BBC, Petro Poroshenko said that after his presidential term in Ukraine, he wants to become a member of the EU parliament.
"I have a dream. When I'm no longer a president, I dream about becoming a member of the EU parliament. And I will do everything possible to achieve it," Poroshenko told the BBC.
He also added that Ukraine will do all it can to become an EU member. Earlier, the country's Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk stated that soon Ukrainian will be one of the official languages of the EU.
Besides, if joined the EU, due to its population size, Ukraine would become the sixth strongest member in the EU Council in terms of its voting power after Germany, UK, France, Spain and Italy, something which certain members in the union might not want to happen.
But before one could even remotely speak about Ukraine's EU membership, the country needs to solve an array of political and economic problems currently descending the Eastern European nation into chaos and violence.
