MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Russian diplomats have not yet received Kiev's permission to visit two Russian citizens detained by Kiev forces during recent combat in east Ukraine, Russian Minister-Counsellor at the Russian embassy in Kiev, Andrei Vorobyov said.
"Of course [the consul is ready for a visit], but I doubt that [we will be] allowed to visit the wounded late at night, but even if we were told that we could visit them from 2 a.m until 3 a.m, we would be ready," Vorobyov told RIA Novosti late Thursday.
On May 16, Kiev authorities stated that they detained two Russian servicemen. The two were wounded and then captured by Ukrainian law enforcement officers.
On Thursday, OSCE representatives visited the detained Russian nationals.
Since the beginning of the armed conflict in Ukraine's eastern Donbass in 2014, Kiev and the Western counties repeatedly accused Russia of aiding the region's independence supporters. Moscow has repeatedly denied these claims and has continued taking part in international efforts for a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis.
