RIGA (Sputnik) – Minsk promises it will not use the Eastern Partnership to squeeze advantages from the European Union and harming Russia in the end, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei said Friday.
“We have always been open and honest with both the European Union and our Russian allies that we will never us the [Eastern Partnership] initiative to make friends with the EU by harming Russia and vice versa,” Makei said.
He said that Belarus would not be made to make a choice between Russia or the EU.
“We don’t plan on making an ‘either-or’ choice, we want to be friends with both,” Makei added.
