Polish opposition candidate Andrzej Duda, who is currently leading in the country’s elections, has promised to become a non-partisan president, sources said.
"I’m leaving the Law and Justice [party]. For me this is completely natural when you become president, you should be non-partisan," Duda said Monday during a meeting with Warsaw residents.
Duda added that he plans to be the president of all Poles because the president is elected by all the people."
According to the latest figures from Poland’s Election Committee, Duda has garnered 55.29 percent of the votes cast in 20 out of 51 polling districts, followed by current President Bronislaw Komorowski with 44.71 percent of the votes.
