Russian energy giant Gazprom is considering expanding to Latin America and Southeast Asia, head of Gazprom International Valery Gulev told the company's corporate magazine.
Gazprom is currently building a natural gas motor fuel plant in Vietnam and is studying the construction of a power plant in the Dominican Republic. Gazprom also has interests and contracts in Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia and Venezuela.
"From the point of view of prospective projects and regions, right now projects in Latin America and Southeast Asia appear the most interesting," Gulev said.
Gazprom is also conducting exploration to build a drilling platform off the coast of southern Vietnam together with Petrovietnam. On Friday, Vietnam's state-owned oil monopoly Petrovietnam Oil reportedly invited Gazprom to buy a stake in the company and become its strategic partner.
