ASTANA (Sputnik) — Some 30 opposition members and leaders from across the Syrian political spectrum flocked to the Central Asian nation on Monday for two days of negotiations.
Suheir Sarmini, of the Syrian National Youth Party, told RIA Novosti that the talks would continue if tangible progress was made in the ongoing round, including a final declaration. The delegates are to draw up a roadmap on regulating the conflict by the end of the meeting on Tuesday.
The government of Syrian President Bashar Assad did not send a representative to the Kazakh capital, something it did during this year’s reconciliation talks in Moscow.
