Russian law-enforcement services have officially brought espionage charges against Lithuanian citizen Arstidas Tamosaitis, his lawyer Anatoly Abritsev told RIA Novosti.
"Today, they brought official charges against Tamosaitis," Abritsev said, adding that he does not agree with the court’s decision and that he has submitted an appeal.
"I am protecting and will continue to protect Tamosaitis with all lawful means," he stated.
The lawyer refused to tell other details, explaining that he is bound by the ethical duty of confidentiality.
Last Wednesday, on May 20, FSB arrested the Lithuanian citizen, conducting illegal spy espionage activities. The man was caught while receiving secret document from a Russian resident.
The man admitted to being part of Lithuania's military intelligence service network. He was brought to "Lefortovo" prison.
