UNITED NATIONS, May 28 (Sputnik) – According to Linkevicius, an action plan and proposals of a strategic communication group will be presented at a European Council meeting in June.
“There is a lot of tasks where we really can win this information war, we are capable to do that. We are not winning, because we are not doing.”
Linkevicius stressed that information is a weapon used for propaganda and that the main recipe in information wars is not to use censorship, but to move in the direction of free media not controlled by the government.
“This is really something we should not neglect, we should address properly and I am so happy to say that its understood not only by us, who can really feel that every day, but also by those who maybe do not realize that this is really problematic.”
Russia’s relations with the West have aggravated over the situation in Ukraine. Western media have claimed that Moscow supports independence fighters in southeastern Ukraine, who were targeted by Kiev’s special military operation launched in April, 2014.
Russia has repeatedly denied the claims that have not been backed with any factual evidence.
