MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – In February, 2015, a series of conflict of interest scandals involving houses bought by Mexico's president emerged. In April, a Mexican official resigned after a public outcry over his use of a government helicopter for personal needs.

Mexico was in the 103rd place in the 20th Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) published by Transparency International, the global coalition against corruption in December, 2014.

The country’s new anti-corruption system establishes a special coordination council that will be tasked with detecting or preventing violations in this area, as well as punishing those involved in corruption schemes.
According to Transparency International’s 2014 data, the least corrupt countries are North Korea and Somalia. Russia was in the 136th place of the organization’s 20th ranking.
